In a lonely park…
Christmas break is the only time of the year that the dormitories are closed, leaving the rooms completely empty. The students have deserted the campus. Leaving the Collège empty for the various cleaning and maintenance teams to carry out their yearly all-out cleaning, and other maintenance work; learge tasks that cannot be carried out while the rooms are occupied (see: “Maintenance Work: a race against time”).
From the office, the courtyard is strangely quiet such that a dull grayness seems to set in. This “no man’s land” is a very somber, giving a touch of the blues. Fortunately, from time to time small groups of Americans who had left some luggage at the School, while making various European travels after their semester, would stop by and give the false impression that the Collège wasn’t closed. The courtyard once again was seeing packs and suitcases, but this time just for the departure home.
