The first traditional get-together of the year: the king’s cake soiree
The day following their arrival, the January students learned and tasted the French king’s cake tradition, served as their desert. With this desert comes a necessary warning: watch out for the trinket! This trinket, a small figurine, which traditionally was a small bean before being replaced by the figurine, could cause dental damage if bitten into too forcefully.
Two days later, the Foyer-café threw a king’s cake soirée as well, though in this case they served a brioche with candied fruit in lieu of the flat frangipane filled cake they had previously. Now the students know that to become king, all they need is a sweet tooth. |
